Test Your A/C Now — Before You Desperately Need It

Your air conditioning system has been mostly idle since October, and components like the compressor, condenser, and refrigerant lines can develop small issues during the off-season that turn into big problems once you're relying on them every single day.

Turn your A/C on full blast and pay attention. Is the air cold within a minute or two? Do you notice any unusual smells — musty, sweet, or chemical? Are there strange noises when the compressor kicks on? If anything feels off, now is the time to address it. A low refrigerant charge, a worn compressor clutch, or a clogged cabin air filter are all straightforward fixes in April. In July, you'll be waiting in line with everyone else who put it off.

Check Your Battery Before the Heat Does
